One of my favorite pet portraits, it was accomplished on a medium textured surface. I liked the contrast produced by the dramatic lighting, one of having the cat’s highly lit face placed against a darker, blurred background, ostensibly giving more emphasis to Jezebel’s focused gaze. As with any portrait, animal or human, the success of the piece is determined upon capturing the “essence” of the subject. Happily, with Jezebel, I felt that that hurdle was more than achieved…
